SIP ŠEMPETER confident ahead of re-match with Centrometal
2017 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Men
Šempeter, Slovenia, December 20, 2016. Slovenia’s OK SIP ŠEMPETER were close to claiming a victory two weeks ago in Nedelisce but ended up with taking one point and a good starting position before Thursday’s re-match with Croatia’s MEDIMURJE Centrometal in the 16th Finals of the 2017 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup – Men.
The team from Šempeter is looking forward to the upcoming match. Although this is their first participation in any European competition, they delivered a solid performance in their debut. They kept the score tight all the time, but unfortunately lost the last set by two points. The players are aware that they have some room for improvement and are extremely motivated to continue their Challenge Cup adventure. The team got stronger for a new player – Tadej Boženk, the reigning Slovenian national champion in Beach Volleyball – returned to the Volleyball courts and strengthened the reception of the team.
Sebastjan Cilenšek, head coach of SIP ŠEMPETER, is happy that all of his players are healthy and without injuries at the moment. “We had some good results in the last matches of the national championship and I expect an arena full of people that will help us secure the victory,” he stated and added that his team always plays very well when performing in front of their home crowd.
The winners of this double header will be playing Norway’s Viking TIF BERGEN or City of EDINBURGH of Scotland in the 8th finals of the competition.
