Olympiacos stun reigning CEV Cup silver medallists SURGUT
2017 CEV Volleyball Cup - Men

Piraeus, Greece, January 5, 2017. On Thursday night Olympiacos PIRAEUS of Greece rallied to a fairly sensational 3-2 victory (25-23, 25-27, 22-25, 25-19, 15-13) over last year’s CEV Cup silver medal winners Gazprom-Ugra SURGUT of Russia in the first round of the 16th Finals of that same competition.

Colombian-born Liberman Agamez was the ‘match winner’ for Olympiacos as he recorded as many as 27 points. Andreas-Dimitrios Fragkos also helped change the course of the game after he replaced Konstantin Cupkovic. Athos Ferreira Costa and Menelaos Kokkinakis played a great match too, chipping in with 16 and 10 points, respectively, the latter one boasting an impressive 65% success rate in reception. Alexey Rodichev top scored for SURGUT with 23 points in their losing effort.
