Valiantsin Shaeu takes over as Belarus Volleyball Federation president

Minsk, Belarus, October 15, 2014. Valiantsin Shaeu was elected president of the Volleyball Federation of the Republic of Belarus at the General Assembly meeting organised at the headquarters of Belarus’ National Olympic Committee in Minsk. Shaeu received 51 votes by the delegates in attendance and will chair the country’s governing body for Volleyball for the next four years.
Shaeu takes over the governance of Belarus’ Volleyball family from Boris Batoura who had been at the helm since 1999 and was re-elected for four times, last in 2011. Shaeu previously chaired Belarus’ Investigative Committee and will now provide his guidance to the local Volleyball family.
“We want keep our traditions but at the same time we also want to move forward,” he said upon his election. “One of our major short-term goals is to support the promotion and development of Volleyball in our country, attracting as many children as possible to this sport.”
