Constanta, Romania, October 20, 2014. Romania’s champion Tomis CONSTANTA continuously looks to find many young players who may be up to great performance on the volleyball court in a few years. To boost these efforts, the club management has decided to set up a department of Tomis in the city of Tulcea, where an U13 team started preparations under the guidance of coach Constantin Burungiu. On that occasion and in the presence of U19 and U17 players, the club from the Black Sea coast organized a press conference on Sunday, October 19, at Tulcea’s Henri Coanda Technical College.
The first competition for the young players is scheduled for next weekend in Tulcea, some 130 km away from Constanta, where they will play at an U13 National Championship tournament.
"As we transferred to Tomis players from Tulcea, such as Alexandru Zahar, Eduard Ocunschi and Robert Vologa, all three with good results, we decided to create a department in Tulcea. Our goal is to train future athletes, to make children happy to practice our sport, and to allow them to combine school and volleyball with the best results,” said Serhan Cadar, Executive Director at Tomis CONSTANTA.
Serhan Cadar wants to continue successfully the project started in 2009 in Constanta, which has resulted with seven age-group titles for Tomis: two in the U19 division (2013 and 2014), three in the U17 (2012, 2013, 2014) and another two in the U15 age group (2012, 2013).
"Tomis is the best training center in the country. The coaches are working according to the latest training methodology and children have the best conditions for practicing,” said Alexandru Zahar, team member of Tomis for the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men.
"I started practicing volleyball at age of eleven in Tulcea and I can say that sport, especially volleyball, is a good thing. To obtain good results, children have to work in a team as well,” added Robert Vologa, who has also joined Romania’s champion team for the new season.
