News from the National Federations

Lake Sevan, Armenia, July 15, 2016. On July 14-15 a CEV Youth Summer Festival was organised under the slogan “Blue Sevan” by the Volleyball Federation of Armenia in cooperation with the CEV.

This Beach Volleyball event took place at the iconic town of Sevan that lies on the shores of Lake Sevan in Armenia. “Blue Sevan” united young players and coaches gathering as many as 185 participants, coming from six different regions of the country.

The highlight of the day already happened in the morning when the young players could show their Volleyball skills. Seven courts were set up to host more than 50 matches, including a game where the stars of tomorrow could play against Armenian veteran Volleyball players.

At the end of this two-day event, the Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Armenia, Karen Asmaryan addressed all players and coaches for a special thank you: “This year’s number of participants has been remarkably higher than the previous editions. It pleases me to see so many enthusiastic Volleyball lovers on the courts. This could be considered as a new record for Armenia.”

Additionally, Mr Asmaryan stressed the importance of hosting this kind of events for the promotion of Volleyball and thanked the CEV and the Armenian Volleyball Federation for all the support and help that was provided in the organisation of this CEV Youth Summer Festival.

All the teams who contributed to the success of this event received specially designed volleyballs, as a lasting memory to take back home.
