CEV Youth Summer Festival in Esmoriz turns into big Beach Volleyball party
News from the National Federations

Esmoriz, Portugal, August 10, 2016. A CEV Beach Volleyball Youth Summer Festival – #LetThemPlay took place this past Friday and Saturday, August 5-6 at Barrinha Beach, Esmoriz. The event, which was addressed specifically to young players, welcomed more than 250 athletes and 127 teams competing in the U20, U18 and U16 divisions. A stop of the national Beach Volleyball circuit was organised in Esmoriz as well, thereby contributing to a huge party for all those who love the sport.

The young participants had the opportunity to display their skills throughout two days of intense battles on sand, and under an unforgiving sun that shone until the end of the afternoon. And they were all the time busy since the athletes, while not playing, refereed the matches as well.

As many as five courts were set up for the event that started early on Friday morning and lasted until the late afternoon of the next day, providing all the conditions for the young ones to have fun while competing in a spirit of fair play and under the attentive eyes of Portuguese Volleyball legends such as Miguel Maia, Hugo Ribeiro as well as of the top players from the national circuit who couldn’t resist and had to follow and scout the actions of tomorrow’s stars.

To cap a perfect Beach Volleyball weekend, the young participants had the opportunity to enjoy some rest on the stands of the main stadium while cheering for their favourite heroes who were competing in another stage of the national championship.

In such kind of events, results do not really matter, however here are the eventual medallists in each age group (the winners of the U20 Girls competition will represent Portugal at the 2016 CEV U18 Beach Volleyball European Championship starting on Thursday in Brno, Czech Republic):
