Albanian Federation successfully launch ‘amateur’ league and cup to further grow the game
News from the National Federations
Tirana, Albania, October 27, 2016. In an effort to further grow the game and develop Volleyball across the country, the Albanian Volleyball Federation organised this past June the first edition of an ‘amateur’ Volleyball league featuring as many as 16 corporate teams representing companies from business branches as diverse as banking, insurance, telecommunications and many more. The participating teams were divided into four groups, each one consisting of four teams and this ‘experiment’ was crowned with success.
The Albanian Volleyball Federation are trying to involve as many people as possible in the game and their effort received positive reviews from participants and fans alike. As a result, it was decided to organise the first edition of an ‘amateur’ national cup as well – featuring eight teams, i.e. the top two from each of the pools contested in the national league earlier this summer.
The competition just got started with a first round and once the national cup comes to an end, the second edition of the ‘amateur’ national league will get underway to provide a further boost to the growth of Volleyball in the Balkan country.
