CEV President takes positives from high-profile talks with Austrian officials
News from the CEV
Vienna, Austria, November 18, 2016. After attending the Drawing of Lots for the EUROVOLLEY POLAND 2017 held on Tuesday night in Krakow, CEV President Aleksandar Boričić travelled to Vienna for a series of high-profile meetings with a number of distinguished Austrian sports officials and authorities.
Accompanied by the President of the Austrian Volleyball Federation and CEV Board of Administration member Peter Kleinmann, the CEV President had the opportunity to meet with the President of the National Sports Organisation, Mr Rudolf Hundstorfer, the Secretary General of the Austrian Olympic Committee, Peter Mennel, the CEO of Austria’s Sporthilfe, Harald Bauer, as well as with Beach Majors GmbH CEO Reinhard Lischka and the chief of ORF Sport, Hans-Peter Trost.
The future of Volleyball in Europe, the organisation of the 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in Vienna and many other items were discussed by the CEV President along with the above mentioned Austrian high-ranking sports officials. “The fact that so many important people took their time to join the meetings and talks we had with the CEV President acknowledges the current status and the good work being done by Austria’s Volleyball family,” Mr Kleinmann said.

The CEV President especially praised the presentation delivered by the organisers of next year’s FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships at the FIVB Congress held in early October in Buenos Aires: “This was the best one I saw there,” he said. “The Austrian Volleyball Federation is an extremely important partner for the CEV, the more since this country will be hosting next year’s Beach Volleyball World Championships and in 2017 the Austrian men’s national team will make their debut in the FIVB World League,” Mr Boričić continued.
The CEV President will now travel to Salzburg to attend the annual General Meeting of the European Handball Federation (EHF) as well as the gala organised to celebrate the 25th anniversary of that same organisation which is now chaired by Austria’s Michael Wiederer. The visit to Salzburg will be an opportunity to exchange views and experiences with the highest-ranking authorities of that sport and to further strengthen the cooperation with the EHF – one of the organisations that a few years ago, together with the CEV, contributed to the establishment of the European Team Sports Association (ETS).
