Zoran Gajić elected President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia
News from the National Federations
Belgrade, Serbia, November 30, 2016. Zoran Gajić, an internationally renowned Volleyball coach, was elected to be the third President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia. At the Assembly held in Belgrade’s Hotel “M” on Sunday, November 27, out of 48 delegates in attendance, 26 voted for Mr Gajić, 16 supported Vladimir Grbić, four were neutral, and another two abstained from voting.
“I have no doubts that the electoral process was conducted in the spirit of democracy. I knew that the majority of Serbia, geographically speaking, was in favour of my election. I expect all of us to continue to work in the best interest of Serbian Volleyball. There were many good things done in the previous times, and above all I am referring to the results of the national teams and the positioning of our Federation in the international bodies. What was neglected, in my opinion, is the cooperation between the headquarters in Belgrade and small communities, regions and clubs in the inner part of Serbia. And this is my first and most important goal, to bring these organisations closer together,” Gajić said.
Upon the election, the first meeting of the new Executive Board was held where Mr Gajić proposed Ivan Knežević as Secretary General, and Volleyball superstar Ivan Miljković to act as the first Vice-President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia. The proposal was unanimously accepted.
