Ankara, Turkey, January 3, 2017. Giovanni Guidetti and Josko Milenkoski were presented on Tuesday as the new head coaches of Turkey women’s and men’s national teams respectively at a press conference organised by the Turkish Volleyball Federation.
Giovanni Guidetti, who has been at the helm of VakifBank ISTANBUL since 2008 and previously coached the German and more recently the Dutch women’s national teams, will be at the helm of the ‘Sultans of the Net’ for the next four years. The same agreement was reached with Milenkoski, who is currently working with Maliye Milli Piyango ANKARA and previously coached the national team of his home country, the Former Y.R. of Macedonia.
Guidetti said: “I am very proud of being here. Turkey is my second home,” the Italian-born coach said. “This is the ninth year I spend in Turkey. This country has given a lot to me and now it is time to give something back. Together with my staff I will be doing my best for this nation. We will build a new generation and work hard in order to make it among the top 10 teams in the world again.”
Milenkoski commented: “This is my sixth year in Turkey. It is a privilege and a big honour to be the head coach of the Turkish men’s national team. I would like to thank the President of the Turkish Volleyball Federation for putting his trust in me. I will be doing my best and work hard for the tough summer ahead. And after that we will work to build a new generation of elite Volleyball players for Turkey.”
