Best teams and players of 2016 awarded in Armenia

Yerevan, Armenia, January 11, 2017. The Volleyball Federation of Armenia recently awarded the best Volleyball teams and players of 2016.
KhMOMM, i.e. the winners of the national league and runners-up of the national cup coached by Robert Janibekyan, claimed the award for the best women’s team; their star Veronika Koshkaryan received the prize for the best player of the 2016 Armenian national league and national cup.
After claiming both the men’s national league and national cup titles, FIMA received the award for the best men’s team of 2016. Karen Asmaryan, who is also the Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Armenia, has been at the helm of FIMA as their head coach. Ashot Balabekyan, who plays for FIMA, was announced the best player of the 2016 Armenian men’s national championship and national cup.
As for 2016, this has been a very successful year for Volleyball in Armenia, thanks to the support provided by the CEV and their development programme. The Volleyball Federation of Armenia are planning to organise as many as 25 events and championships throughout 2017, starting with the Armenian Snow Volleyball Championships scheduled for January 28 and due to take place in Yerevan. Two more Snow Volleyball tournaments will be taking place in February in another two of the country’s largest cities, Gyumri and Vanadzor.
