Guillermo Gallardo to lead Swedish women’s national team

Stockholm/Falköping, Sweden, January 11, 2017. The Swedish Volleyball Federation have announced Guillermo Gallardo as the new head coach of their women’s national team.
“I am grateful for this opportunity,” the 46-year-old Argentinean-born coach said while addressing the Swedish media on Wednesday afternoon. “It is an honour for me to coach the Swedish women’s national team. The team has great potential and I am really looking forward to getting started.”
Gallardo is a very experienced and respected coach as he has won several titles in Argentina, Spain, Germany and Switzerland for the past 10 years. From 2007 to 2013, he successfully coached Rote Raben VILSBIBURG when they were crowned Bundesliga champions, both in 2008 and 2010.
He was also at the helm of the Romanian women’s national team (see picture) for almost four years and helped them qualify to the Final Round of the 2015 CEV Volleyball European Championship where they finished in 15th place.
