2016 MEVZA Cup silver medal winners Linamar – BÉKÉSCSABAI RSE suffer setback
News from the Zonal Associations

Vienna, Austria, January 16, 2017. On Monday night reigning Hungarian national champions Linamar – BÉKÉSCSABAI RSE resumed their 2016-2017 women’s MEVZA Cup campaign with a 1-3 (23-25, 26-28, 25-16, 23-25) home loss to Slovakia’s 1. BVK BRATISLAVA.

Last year’s MEVZA Cup silver medal winners lost for the second time this season, while the Slovakian side celebrated a first victory in their fourth match. The win takes 1. BVK BRATISLAVA to the seventh spot of the current standing on four points. As for Linamar, they did not capitalise on the opportunity to draw level with the currently championship leaders and titleholders Calcit LJUBLJANA. Slovenia’s national champions have not dropped a point in the four matches they have contested so far.

The women’s competition will continue on Tuesday night in Békéscsaba with the clash between 1. BVK BRATISLAVA and VK UP OLOMOUC of the Czech Republic.
